The Best Non-Toxic Baby Baths for your newborn

6 Non Toxic Baby Baths for your Newborn

We know how overwhelming it can be when preparing for a newborn! There are so many things that you need to consider, especially when you’re trying to keep your home as non-toxic as possible. There are so many non-toxic products out there, you just have to find them. That’s why we’ve created a list of non-toxic baby baths to help you make an informed decision.

Why choose a non-toxic baby bath

When purchasing products for our newborns, we want to make sure that potentially harmful components such as BPA, phthalates and lead are not contained within the product.

BPA (bisphenol A) is a chemical that has been used in plastic products since the 1950s. Luckily there has been a lot of awareness around the use of BPA over recent years and manufacturers are making an effort to eliminate its use. BPA is thought to potentially interrupt the function of the nervous and endocrine (hormones) systems. We always recommend that you only use products that state that it is BPA free, especially with sippy cups and baby bottles.

Phthalates are commonly used within plastic products to make the product more durable and withstand heavy usage. They are found in so many products within the home, from soaps and shampoos to vinyl flooring. Whilst it is unclear how much damage phthalates cause in humans, it has been shown to impact the reproductive systems of animals in studies. For this reason, it’s best avoided!

Lead is something that we are well aware of. We know that we need to be avoiding it but do you also know that it isn’t banned in the US for usage within plastics? When used for plastic products, it helps to soften the plastic, making it more flexible and it also helps to stabilize the product in heat.

These are just some considerations to make when purchasing your non-toxic baby bath.

Once upon a time, there was one type of baby bath, the large, hard plastic tub but these days there are way more options!
